Previous Entry New story... Jun. 1st, 2005 @ 06:06 am
Here's a new story that I just finished--it's about what can happen if you decide to fuck around with the darker side of magick. It's all about soul possession. I got the ritual invocations off of http://www.spellsandmagic.com ...so here it is.

Title: Angel’s Punishment
Author: Jenny
Rating: R
Fandom: Linkin Park
Characters: Chester Bennington, Mike Shinoda, me
Summary: Dark paradise…collecting souls…to analyze…What happens when I become possessed by a murderous soul with an appetite for blood? Pure chaos—at least, for the two lead vocalists of Linkin Park, one of them who I happen to be dating, the other, my best friend.
WARNING: Contains murder, blood/gore, occult content, and language.
Author’s note: This is a one-shot songfic based on the song “Angel’s Punishment” by Lacuna Coil.

Destruction

War

To fight in defense
Forgotten words
of friendly hate…

~*~Mike’s POV~*~

I couldn’t believe it. Here I was, standing in front of the girl I had once loved, killing her…watching her die…murdering her with my own two hands. Tears came to my eyes when those thoughts passed through my mind.

She brought a hand up to caress my face. Blood spilled from her mouth, running down her chin, dripping onto the ground. “M-Mike…” she sputtered. “Why? I loved you.”

I knew it was actually her talking, and I didn’t know how long it would be before it left her body. But I couldn’t take any chances. Clenching my teeth in emotional pain and shutting my eyes, I shoved the knife further into her stomach. I saw rage, fury, revenge in her eyes, then hurt, love, and understanding. She slid off the knife and fell to the floor. Dead.

~*~The Day Before~*~

It was late afternoon. Me, my boyfriend Mike, and my best friend Chester were hanging out at my house, goofing off, watching movies, having fun. We were in the midst of watching Road Trip, our favorite movie to watch when we need some laughs, when Chester got up off of the couch and disappeared into the kitchen. When he returned, he was holding a bottle of Bacardi.

“I LOVE YOU!” I screamed and Mike laughed.

“I was thinking we could have a few…er…drinks and have ourselves a joyous occasion,” Chester replied.

”What occasion are we celebrating?” Mike asked.

“DUH! We’re not celebrating anything! I just feel like getting shit-faced.”

Mike and I wholeheartedly agreed. Chester unscrewed the cap on the bottle and took a swig. “Hey! Save some for us!” I yelled. Chester passed the bottle to me and I took a drink.

As I passed the bottle to Mike, Chester opened his mouth to speak. “Hey, you guys know that movie we watched earlier? The Attic Expeditions?” We nodded. “We should try doing some of that magickal shit, just to see what happens.”

I could tell that the alcohol had already gotten to him. “Are you off your nut? I’ve tried that shit before, and it is not nice to fuck around with.”

I looked to Mike for support, but he agreed with Chester. “I think it’d be fun,” he said. “Y’know, just to see what happens. Unless you’re afraid.”

No one calls me afraid and gets away with it. I rolled my eyes. “Fine, we’ll do it. But I’m telling you, if you play with fire, you’re gonna get burned.”

Chester shrugged and retrieved the bottle from Mike, only to find that it was now empty. He began to pout, and I smiled and shrugged my shoulders. He spoke up. “Do you still have any of your Pagan stuff?”

“Yeah. It’s in my basement. Come on, let’s go set up.”

We finished setting up for the ritual and I opened my Book of Shadows. “Okay, since I’ve done this sort of thing before, I’ll do the invocations,” I said.

I picked up my dagger and raised it over my head. I held the book in my right hand and read the invocation aloud.

“I evoke and conjure thee, O Spirit VAU-AEL, by the Supreme Majesty—the true God who is known by the names YOD HEH VAV HEH, ADONAI, EHEIEH, and AGLA to appear before us in a fair and comely shape.”

We stood there, candles lit, hands above our heads, looking ridiculous, with absolutely nothing happening. “I knew this wouldn’t work,” I grumbled. “You guys made me unpack all this shit just so nothing would—what was that?” A loud bang came from somewhere in the room.

Mike grinned. “Okay, either this is working, or somebody’s doing a pretty damn good job of pretending to be a spirit.”

I shivered. That was weird. The temperature had suddenly dropped. I could now see my breath. I began to get a creepy feeling in my stomach. “Alright, this is starting to freak me out.” But I continued.

“In peace I welcome you, O Spirit VAU-AEL, and in the name of the Most High I command you to stay within this magick circle, to speak and answer all questions truthfully that we put before you.”

Instead of hearing a voice, we heard a loud rumbling. “Chester,” I said in a shaky voice. “Please tell me that was your stomach saying you need to eat.”

He only shook his head, with a look of fear in his eyes. Then I saw nothing but blue. A bright blue glow.

I don’t know why
A soul deceased
A broken hope
A choking breeze…

~*~Chester’s POV~*~

Jen was glowing. She was actually glowing blue! She began to convulse and shake violently. The dagger and book fell from her hands, and she let out a scream that made my blood run ice cold in my body. Then she felt to the floor, unmoving.

~*~My POV~*~

I heard a bloodcurdling scream echo throughout the room, then everything faded to black. There was a voice in me…speaking to me. I am in control now. You are my body. Then I faintly heard Mike and Chester screaming my name over and over.

I opened my eyes and realized that I was on my back on the floor and Mike and Chester were staring down at me, asking if I was okay. “What happened?” I asked, stunned.

“It was the absolute weirdest thing I have ever seen,” Chester said. “You began glowing blue. It was really creepy. You screamed so loud it sounded like someone was murdering you. Then you fell on the floor where you have been for the past ten minutes. God, you scared the shit out of us. We thought you were dead.”

I looked over at Mike, whose terror-stricken eyes proved that it was no lie. They helped me to my feet and we extinguished the candles and went upstairs into the family room.

Can’t you take me away from your lies?

~*~Later that night~*~

I lay in bed, trying to sleep, but my thoughts kept drifting to the ritual we had performed earlier, and the warning the book had given me. Make sure that even if the spirit does not show itself to perform the dismissal and the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram. You don’t want a spirit hanging around after your ritual because that could mean possession or even death. “Shit!” I cursed to myself. We hadn’t performed either the dismissal or the LBRP. I’d messed around with this stuff before, hell, I’d been a Pagan for over six years, and I’d done that ritual I don’t know how many times, and nothing like that had happened.

I looked over beside me and saw that Mike was sound asleep, his chest rising and falling with each breath he took. I needed some coffee, or maybe a good shot of whiskey. I got out of bed, careful not to wake Mike, and walked out through the family room toward the kitchen. To my surprise, Chester wasn’t asleep either. He was sitting cross-legged in front of the TV, half-asleep, remote in hand. He mumbled a hello to me as I entered the room. I sat down beside him and grabbed the remote from him. Then I shut off the TV. “What do you think happened to me earlier?” I asked, turning to him.

“I honestly do not know. All I do know is that it fucking scared me shitless.”

“Yeah, and it didn’t even happen to you.” Not knowing what I was doing, I leaned forward and kissed him.

He pulled away abruptly. “What the fuck? You’re with Mike.”

I grinned. “So? He’s sleeping.”

I gently pushed him off the couch and onto the floor. I got down and straddled his legs. Whoa! You’re totally going over the limits! You’re cheating on Mike! The thoughts ran through my head, and I was surprised to hear a different voice actually come up with a reply.

You’re not going to fuck him.

Then why am I seducing him?

We’re seducing him and it’s all part of our plan.

I continued to kiss Chester, my hands wandering over his body, eventually making their way up to his neck. I wrapped my fingers around his throat and squeezed as I continued to kiss him. He drew back. “Stop. I—I can’t breathe.”

“Good.” I gave him one final kiss and started to choke him. NO! What are you doing? This is your best friend! About five hundred alarms were going off in my mind. Then I heard the voice again. He’s not your friend. He never was. He would be a lot better off this way.

I squeezed with almost inhuman strength until he stopped struggling and went limp, his eyes rolled back in his head and he stared lifelessly at the ceiling.

I felt a surge of power and strength run through my body, then if was gone and I was staring at the lifeless body of my best friend who I had just murdered. I gasped in shock. “Oh, my God, what the FUCK have I just done?” I sobbed.

You didn’t do anything. I did it all. You wouldn’t have had the nerve to do it if it wasn’t for me.

“Shut up, shut up, shut up! Who the hell are you?” I screamed at the voice in my head.

I am every nightmare you’ve ever dreamed up. I am the hell-fire. I am oblivion.

“Oh God, you’re that spirit we called, aren’t you?”

Now that we’ve all been properly introduced, let’s get one thing straight. I am a part of you now. Every thought, every word, every action is controlled by me. Fight me, and you’ll suffer the consequences. Comply, and we’ll get along just fine.

“Why did you make me murder my best friend?”

You should know by now to follow the warnings in the book. Plus, you specifically said, ‘If you play with fire, you’re gonna get burned.’ If you ask me, you’re the one who murdered him, I just…helped you along.

“No! I’ve got to get to Mike!”

Good idea. We’ll kill him next.

“No. I’m gonna wake him up and warn him!”

The spirit laughed. Go ahead. You guys can’t do anything to stop me.

I ran into the bedroom and shook Mike violently. “Mike! Help me!”

He shot up in bed. “What’s wrong?”

I spoke hurriedly. “Remember the spirit we tried to call? It possessed me! I’m not fucking joking! It made me kill Chester.”

Mike yawned. “What are you talking about?”

“That spirit we conjured up. Well, when all that shit started happening to me, it must’ve been the time when that spirit took over my body! I killed Chester! And if you don’t believe me, go the fuck out to the family room and see for your fucking self!”

“Alright, alright. I’ll go out and ‘see for myself’. But babe, I think you were dreaming.”

He walked out to the family room. A few minutes later, I heard a scream.

He’d found Chester’s body.

~*~

Mike ran into the room, his eyes wide, face pale. He grabbed my shoulders. “What the fuck did you do?”

Then the spirit spoke through my mouth. In a deep voice it said, “Let me the fuck go. Now. I killed Chester, not the girl. And you are next.”

My voice returned to normal. “No! Leave me alone! Get out of my head! QUIT FUCKING WITH ME!” Tears rolled down my face.

I placed my hands on Mike’s chest and pushed, sending him flying backward into the wall. “NO! YOU ARE GOING DOWN, YOU FUCKING GHOUL!”

Mike stood up and ran out of the room. Follow him, said the spirit. I shook my head. “No!” Follow him or I’ll kill you both.

Then, without me in control, my legs began moving and I chased after Mike. I ran through the house, finally catching up to him when he fell down, hitting his head on the floor. I straddled him and reached a hand up to grab a knife off of the kitchen table. I raised the knife over my head.

The bitter blood
Of a children’s cry
Inside the truth
Far from my sky…

~*~Mike’s POV~*~

I stared wide-eyed as Jen raised the knife over her head. “Don’t do this,” I pleaded. I searched her eyes, but only saw rage and fury. “Jen, as much as I hate to do this…” I reached up and punched her in the stomach. She dropped the knife and fell backward.

I grabbed the knife and stood up. Then, while she was still on the floor, I ran. Being the dumbass that I am, I flung open the basement door and ran down the steps. I faintly heard the spirit’s voice yell, “I’m gonna find you, Mike! You can’t run forever.”

I hid behind a wall, breathing hard, knife in hand. I heard Jen walk down the steps and look for me. I peeked around the corner. No sign of her. I turned back and breathed a sigh of relief. Just then, she emerged from the darkness, right in front of me. “What’s the matter, baby? Don’t be scared. It’ll only hurt for a minute.”

She wrapped a hand around my neck and started to squeeze. I heard her gasp and I looked down to find that I had shoved the knife into her stomach. She lowered her hands to the wound. Then looked back up at me.

Dead.

I knelt beside her body and cried. Cried for Jen, and cried for Chester. Cried for all of us, who had been so stupid as to mess around with this kind of shit. “I have to get rid of the spirit,” I said to myself.

I picked up the dagger and book and recited the dismissal.

“Go in peace and return to your sphere of origin, O Spirit VAU-AEL by the authority of the True God, I command thee to harm none as you depart, and to be ready to come quickly if called upon again.”

Like I’d really need to call up this motherfucker again.

I heard a scream, then saw a flash of light as a thick mist surrounded the room, then disappeared in a flash. I did the post-ritual called the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram, then put the book on the floor. I walked over to Jen’s body. Fresh tears spilled from my eyes as I thought of what she’d had to go through.
